Members are encouraged to attend as many meetings as possible, produce a reasonable number of new watermedia paintings each year and to be active in the organization.

- Active membership dues are $35.
- Active members may participate in all activities of the Society. They may vote on all issues brought before general meetings of the Society, hold office, serve on committees, and exhibit in Society exhibitions, subject to jurying when applicable.

Dues for current members are due by June 30 of each year. No past due notices will be sent.
- Signature membership is available to qualified artists.
- A currently paid-up member may apply for Signature Membership when having been accepted into 3 CWS or WFWS shows within a ten year period.
- Signature membership means that you may include this in resumes and use "CWS" after your signature on a watermedia painting, provided that you remain active or are emeritus members of the Society.
- The application should be sent to the Signature Chairperson at least 2 weeks before the October or June meetings when certificates are distributed.
